Packaging

Recycle & Repurpose

In packaging your orders, I endeavour to avoid buying plastic apart from sticky tape, dropper lids on the serum and vinyl labels, which sadly were the only viable option.

That’s not to say your order won’t be packed in plastic! It’s also not going to come in a fancy box.

We all so readily buy something and turf the packaging straight into the bin, when it can be used again and again.

Boxes-1

Lovely to pop a small gift in for a friend.

The clip jars are fantastic to reuse for bottling preserves and jams in and I also use them for salt and pepper holders close to my hob, when I cook.

  • There’s too much stuff on the planet. Whilst I am all for abandoning the use of most plastic, I also believe in getting every last bit of life out of what exists instead of dumping it, and will reuse and reuse it, until it can’t anymore. The same about boxes. Whilst they’re great for your compost heap, it doesn’t mean that they have to go there after one use, so that we simply cut down more trees to make another. It also benefits you. The lower my costs, the less it costs you.

  • Don’t think you’ve hit the jackpot if your goodies come in a tube proclaiming to be 25-year-old Scotch.

  • I do also have a hungry shredder that gobbles up all manner of junk mail and documents no longer required and turns them into lovely cushioning packaging for your gorgeous goods. As the world slowly moves to more environment friendly solutions and I receive less plastic, so will you in what I send to you.

  • The jars and handmade fabric bags your product comes in are reusable and with the exception of the hessian, are made from old fabric from sheets, duvet covers and clothing, that I’ve repurposed. All washed of course and made by the talented and creative residents of Irene Home for the Intellectually Disabled

Irene - Home for the Intellectually Disabled

Most NGO’s have taken a severe amount of financial strain during lockdown. They were not able to hold their regular fundraisers. I got thinking about my packaging and rather than support the corporates, who are all kept busy with commercial manufacturers, I decided to look for something a little different and approached my local Irene Homes, who have made up all my gift bags for me.
