Description

The scent is befitting of a sacred goddess ritual – divine!

The simple act of immersing your body in warm water can help soothe achy muscles, alleviate tension and nourish your skin. With the right product, the benefits of soaking in the tub don’t end there. The skin is our largest organ and absorbs whatever we put on to it, in much the same way it does when we eat. It is therefore time we began to read ingredient labels and understand the toxins in most commercial products that we have been putting into our bodies

Genuine accolades make my heart sing and feet happy dance. A few customers have said this body polish and soak is the best they have ever used.

Baleni salt is a large part of that success with its super soft flakes that are so mineral rich and gentle on your skin as are the magical baobab (insert link here to blog for magic muthi serum) and jojoba. These oils have proven skin benefits, especially so, baobab oil.

There are no shortcuts in this exfoliating polish and soak and every ingredient is there to give the often neglected skin on your body a luxurious and deep nourishing bath treatment.

Kaolin clay is one of the gentlest of clays and suitable for all skin types. The clay is added to draw impurities from your skin as you soak and polish.

****Please be aware that your bath or shower will be slippery, so exercise caution when standing****.

MYTHS, STORIES & INSPIRATION

There are 4 stories to share with you. Sacred healing rituals of thousands of years are deeply rooted in various ingredients in your luxurious product.

I fell in love with the strong mystical, spiritual scent of Oudh and can deeply inhale it all day. I had to use it. It pairs so beautifully with Rose as you will read below in the historical use….and even better with Rosewood which I decided, after experimentation, was what I wanted to create to showcase the ancient wonders.

The idea of using top quality phthalate free fragrance of 2 majestic, highly threatened and ancient trees whose scents blended so beautifully, gelled for me and I’ve called the range SACRED RITUALS OF OUDH (Oud meaning old in Afrikaans)

Oudh (Arabic) is well known and widely used for the spiritual and psychological benefits and popular for its calming properties. Moreover, it is known to remove the negative and destructive energies that surround the human aura. We all need that in this crazy world.

The oil is derived from ancient Agarwood tree resin and demands a far higher price than gold. It is one of, if not the most expensive natural resource in the world and quality oil sells at around US$ 100000 per kg. Yes, you read it correctly…100K US$ per kg!! That is R1.8 Millionty SA RONDS per kilogram!

It is one of 6 of the rarest essential oils on earth. I use 2 of them in my products, being Myrrh and Vetiver and imported phthalate free fragrance of OUDH as opposed to the real thing. The price is clearly a factor, but additionally, we have a moral responsibility…..the Agarwood Tree is a threatened species.

Fascinating to know that the OUDH scent only occurs in the heartwood resin of trees that are naturally infected with a kind of mould. It has no scent whatsoever in a tree that is not infected.

The scent of agarwood is very complex with few or no similar natural analogues. It is mainly distinguished by a combination of “oriental-woody” and “very soft fruity-floral” notes. The incense smoke is also characterized by a “sweet-balsamic” note and “shades of vanilla and musk” and amber.

The genuine oudh oil is psychoactive and its essential oil has a deep cultural and religious significance and history in ancient civilizations around the world, being described as early as 1400 BC.

The psychoactive properties make it extremely useful for relieving stress and boosting cognitive function. Moreover, it helps to reduce obsessive and impulsive behaviour, resulting in harmonious relationships.

OUD and OUD-based products are known to eliminate negative energies around the house. Moreover, it is believed that the smoke created through burning OUD carries prayers to the Creators. Burning OUD is especially famous among Muslims who strongly believe that Agarwood carries spiritual benefits.

They are mentioned in the oldest spiritual texts.

It is said that Buddha described the burning fragrance of Agarwood as the “scent of Nirvana” (the state of attaining Divinity). Additionally, the string of 108 beads in Buddhism is made up of Agarwood. It also plays an important role in meditation.

The Bible mentions that Jesus Christ was scented with Aloeswood (Agarwood). In the Hebrew Bible, “trees of lign aloes” /agarwood are mentioned in The Book of Numbers 24:6 and a perfume compounded of aloeswood, myrrh, and cassia is described in Psalms 45

It is also said that the Samurai warriors used Agarwood smoke to perfume their armour as a lucky charm before going into the battle, and the celebrated king of France, King Louis XIV, had his garments washed in a blend of water boiled with Agarwood and rose for lasting fragrance and energy.

Agarwood’s use as a medicinal product was also recorded in the Sahih Muslim, which dates back to approximately the eighth century, and in the Ayurvedic medicinal text the Susruta Samhita.

WELCOME TO THE MAGIC MUTI OF THE ANCIENT BAOBAB AND ITS INCREDIBLE PROPERTIES

Baobab oil contains on average 31% omega 6, 37% Omega 9 and 0.8% of Omega 3.  It also contains small amounts of palmitoleic acid, which is the much lesser-known Omega 7, rarely found in the plant kingdom.  Omega 7 is particularly valued for restoring damaged skin.

You will find that:

  • Baobab oil helps with all kinds of burns – it’s immediately helpful for rapidly healing sunburn and redness and even for older burn effects. A friend was involved in a car accident last year and had terrible airbag burns. They were almost gone in a month.
  • Baobab oil is great for reducing fine lines and wrinkles so feel free to use it on your face as a night cream.
  • Baobab is deeply moisturising – instantly replenishing dry, cracked and dehydrated skin, the omega 9 deep-moisturises and nourishes, offering rapid absorption without clogging pores or leaving greasy feeling. The oil is also deeply moisturising and revitalising for the scalp and hair. Read Faithful-to-nature customers’ 5-star ratings of baobab oil!
  • Baobab oil soothes – it’s excellent for treating for itchy dry flaky dandruff, psoriasis and relieves the symptoms of eczema too!
  • Baobab oil is helpful in healing – reducing scars, stretch marks and cancer spots and it is reducing my broken veins.
  • Baobab oil is minimally processed and certified organic –the oil is harvested only from fallen baobab pods ensuring no harm comes to Baobab trees. And it’s cold pressed to ensure all its beneficial properties aren’t destroyed by heat.  Being certified organic means you can be sure you’re only using the purest, highest quality product on your skin and hair.
  • Baobab oil plays well with other products – give your existing routine a boost by mixing a few drops of baobab oil into your regular daily moisturiser, your hair conditioner or into your bath.

BALENI SALT is the product of a Natural Heritage Site of the sacred Baleni, a geothermal hot spring on the banks of the Klein Letaba River in Limpopo. It is part of a Tsonga tradition going back millennia and still hand harvested today in ceremonial tradition. Ancient, inscrutable rules must be respected for every extraction. Only women can access the source place and all of their movements (each single step and gesture) are governed by a secret language, indecipherable to most. The local women have been repeating the ritual the same way for the past 2,000 years.  Using ancient skills and traditions, Tsonga women at Baleni harvest a pure salt which has been used for food, medicinal purposes and sacred rituals over the millennia.

Salt Harvesting at Baleni starts by leaving a gift at the foot of the Leadwood tree (called Motswiri) to thank the ancestors for nature’s bounty.

The local Tsonga woman collect salt-encrusted sand and leach it with water (called Ntsobe) through natural filters (called Xinjhava) made with clay (called Nwahuva) and leaves and reeds (called Nhlangula). The filtered water is boiled to evaporation, leaving the pure crystals of Baleni Sacred Salt.

The harvesting takes place on tribal land. Salt is harvested during the dry winter months, and sold by the producers directly to locals and traditional healers who revere its healing properties. A tribal trust has been established and active international marketing is creating an awareness of this African gem. It now finds itself gracing dishes in Michelin-star restaurants. The finished salt has a high mineral content, a low sodium content and is greatly appreciated for its flavour and is a culinary dream on its own

JOJOBA OIL

The use of medicinal healing plants by ancient tribal people of the earth, is a subject that has drawn me in and one I could happily study for hours.

Although my focus is traditionally on African healing plants, Jojoba oil has been used for centuries by a people whose treatment of the earth aligns with my own – the Native American people.

Jojoba Oil is produced from the seed of the Jojoba plant, a shrubby tree that is native to southern Arizona and California.

  1. Deeply-Hydrating.

It is lighter than other face oils and easily absorbed into skin. It deeply penetrates to soothe and soften while providing an excellent moisturizing effect and adding a healthy glow.

  1. Long-Lasting Moisturization.

It doesn’t evaporate like water-based moisturizers, which is very important when your skin is exposed to the environment. Studies have shown that Jojoba Oil provides a substantial long-acting layer of moisture.

  1. Nutritious for Skin.

Jojoba is full of nutrients like Vitamin E and B, as well as antioxidants and minerals like chromium, copper, and zinc, which all nourish and protect skin. Organic, cold-pressed, Jojoba Oil has the highest level of antioxidants and nutrients.

  1. Anti-Aging.

Because it is the perfect moisturizer, Jojoba can help slow down the appearance of aging, and help to fade fine lines and wrinkles. In dermatological tests, it was shown that Jojoba Oil increases the skin’s suppleness and the effect was still present as time passed. Tests also showed continued use of Jojoba Oil resulted in reducing superficial facial lines.

  1. Non-Acnegenic.

Because Jojoba Oil is very similar to human skin oils, its use can trick the skin into thinking it has produced enough oil and thus balance oil production, without promoting acne or other skin problems. Jojoba also naturally deters microbes, helping to prevent the growth of bacteria on skin.

  1. Not Greasy.

Because Jojoba Oil is very similar to our own skin oils, it immediately penetrates skin and smoothes easily, helping to promote healthy, glowing skin without clogging pores or leaving a greasy residue.

  1. Soothes Sunburn.

Jojoba Oil’s hydrating action soothes sunburn and helps reduce the chances of peeling.

  1. Gentle & Non-Allergenic.

Jojoba Oil is recommended for people with sensitive skin (including psoriasis and eczema) because of its gentle nature. Applying Jojoba Oil to compromised skin can help reduce flare-ups.

  1. Soothes Dry Skin.

Jojoba Oil has anti-inflammatory properties which help to tame chaffing and chapping, reduce redness caused by drying, ease the effects of eczema and rosacea, and keep skin calm and comfortable. The Vitamin E and B-complex vitamins in the Jojoba Oil help in skin repair and damage control.

  1. Anti–Microbial.

Jojoba Oil naturally deters microbes, helping to prevent the growth of bacteria on skin. This property makes it useful for those with acne, and also provides an added wound-healing benefit. Bonus: Jojoba Oil acts as a natural preservative.
