The pure essential oil scent is fresh, gorgeous and has depth. It is identical to the hugely popular Flower Power soap. A great lather and tallow is conditioning and skin loving. The water component of the soap is genuine seawater collected in the pristine waters of Hermanus.

MYTHS, STORIES & INSPIRATION

For 16 years, my sister, a fitness fanatic and competitive athlete, has endeavored to get me to partake in some form of physical activity, without any success.

Our Dad’s wishes as a Naval Officer with a deep connection to the ocean, was, upon his departure from earth, to have his ashes scattered at sea.

We duly planned this in accordance with his wishes. I had distinct visons of a sturdy seaworthy boat with an engine, whilst Louise had plans of us kayaking out into the bay off Hermanus.

I’m still not entirely sure how she managed to inveigle me into it, given that my only recollections of similar were those horrible canoes that tipped you into the drink at the slightest imbalance.

So glad she did. What an incredible experience and highly recommended if you visit Hermanus and stay at Louise’s Brown Jug Guest House.

Louise and I and my nephew Luke paddled out on our Kayaks from the old Harbour in Hermanus armed with Dad’s ashes and fresh flowers. My consolation was that I had a driver to paddle me out.

When out close to the Point we spotted a few Scout Dolphins a reasonable way from us. They scout ahead of the pod and lead the way for the rest to follow. They passed by and we duly scattered Dad’s ashes and thereafter laid the flowers to rest on the sea, when the most extraordinary thing happened.

The rest of the pod came into view, but instead of following the path of the scouts, around 80 dolphins broke course, the closest core of the pod came to within a metre of us. They circled us for probably 15 minutes, dived under our Kayaks, turning sideways as they did, to look up at us with curiosity. Leapt out of the water alongside us. There were a few teeny babies in the pod and one breached right next to me alongside Mom.

Thereafter, they turned as one and resumed the path of the scouts.

To this day, we cannot explain their behaviour in changing course so dramatically, and all of us felt an angelic intervention and connection. The Kayak company owner in all his years, had never seen or heard of anything like it.

A duty we were not overly looking forward to, was transformed into sheer wonder.

There is often a reported deep connection experienced in various ways between dolphins and humans.

This is my tribute to that. May you all experience it during your lifetime.
